“CLOUDS”
In case you didn’t already know-I reside in California, just a hop and skip from beautiful downtown San Diego. My preference is a less populated area with easy access to natures resources. I love being outdoors and especially near lakes, rocks and trees. They provide such an amazing and unlimited source of inspiration.
Most of my cloud pictures are taken right outside my door, which is why you will often see residential “graffiti” encroaching along the edges of a picture. I suppose I could try and edit them out, and maybe I will-someday.
Like so many of my other pictures, clouds come in groupings. For instance this morning my neighbor friend text me to say her husband saw a witch in the clouds. I was so busy getting my Instagram posts up for the morning I forgot to look outside. So glad she gave me a prompt because today is going to be a magnificent opportunity for cloud captures! By the end of the day I will probably have a minimum of 100 pictures.
Some pictures are so obvious and clear I cant wait to start transforming-these go directly to Procreate before I forget. Often what I think I originally see in a cloud is not the end result. Once I start editing and enlarge the picture subtle nuances take over; suddenly there’s a pair of eyes and a possible shape, then another and another…you get the idea.
I allow the energy of the image flow through my pencil. This requires a level of discernment and self control. If I feel there’s still more to be expressed in an image I can always go back and work with it again. That’s the wonderful thing about nature as a canvas-it keeps recreating itself!
That’s all for now-the clouds are calling me. It’s like a baby or a puppy you keep checking in on:)
I would like to hear from you if there’s something more you would like me to expand on…
