Introducing Annabelle the Black Obsidian Chameleon:

Start Date: May 28, 2019 ~ Completion Date: August 16, 2019

Materials:

Body Base: Black Obsidian Rock

Body & Mouth ~ Chrysocolla chips,

Eye Spiral ~ Blue & Black Deerskin lace

Eye Pupil ~ 6mm Round Drilled Striped Agate bead

Annabelle had been patiently sitting in my yard with the rest of my rock “herd”, waiting for her spot in the limelight. Like the Princess, I did not see her until I went looking for more rocks to transform after I returned from Palm Springs in April 2019.

It was immediately obvious to me this black piece of Obsidian resembled a Chameleon in shape. She was the second of my rock transformation animals to bring to life.

To me the eye is the most interesting focal point of a Chameleon; so I wanted to attract the most attention here. I chose a drilled striped Agate bead for the pupil, and alternated black and blue Deerskin leather lace to create the ring effect around the Agate bead.

Next I tried several different types of chips from my inventory to see which ones felt right; tumbled Chrysocolla offered the colorful contrast I was looking for, along with the perfectly shaped flat pieces. I was very happy to utilize this stone, since it’s one of my favorites.

It’s during the rock transformation process I sense their “gender” and usually towards the end of completion I receive their name. This lovely creation is Annabelle, and she has a very warm, supporting energy.

I do not research stone or crystal meanings prior to starting an individual project; I rely on intuition to assist in choosing the perfect materials for each piece.

After completion I researched these crystal definitions, and find them to support the energy she carries:

“Black obsidian is a glass-like rock that forms from volcanic lava cooling quickly. Its energy draws you in softly, but very deeply, which makes the presence of black obsidian powerful in many ways. It is commonly used for protection, healing, truth-telling, and Feng Shui.”

“Chrysocolla is a stone of harmony, both on a universal level and a very specific level. It can be used to purify a place or remove negativity from a person. It is a very gentle stone and its energy works in a gentle, harmonious way. It can help ease fear, anxiety, and guilt, and bring hope.”

I am humbly honored, and deeply grateful to work with natures gifts in this way.
