Current materials: Ram skull, 37x7mm druzy Agate Heart cabochon, Desert Rose Selenite, Mookaite Jasper chips.
This skull creation began its transformation during the 2020 Covid-19 stay at home request.
While attending a Gem Show event in Quartzite AZ, January 2020 I stopped at a vendor selling deerskin laces and also purchased two of these beautiful skulls. About six months earlier I started feeling I was ready to receive a skull to work with, and this family-run vendor offered the perfect opportunity.
The druzy Agate heart cabochon was selected first and placed on the center of the skull.
Round Desert Rose Selenite was chosen to fill the eye cavities.
For the skull surface I started with the one pound of Mookaite Jasper chips I had on hand. A large inventory of semi-precious chips ranging from 1 to 10mm (often two pounds per size) is required for the best selection to work with.
As of June 14, 2020 I’m still waiting for the supplier to receive another shipment of Mookaite in the smaller sizes.
I feel there will be additional materials intuitively added once the surface is complete.
