The Princess of Delphi from Orion was my first undertaking with intuitive rock transformations. This is how her story began…
While on vacation in August 2018, I scheduled a healing appointment with Rachel from Way Chill Life in Palm Springs, CA. After our initial introduction it quickly became apparent we shared a love of rocks, all shapes and sizes. In November 2018 she commissioned me to make her a “Dragon” and promptly shipped me her special rocks she’d been collecting for just the right project.
I was in a semi-awake state one morning (and contemplating what I might use to create this magnificent Dragon) when my mind was directed to a spot in my yard where two rocks rested side by side. Both rocks (as well and many smaller ones) were gifted to me a couple years earlier by an older gentleman who was preparing to move. He and his wife loved to travel and collected many interesting specimens along the way. To be honest I took them to be polite, at the time I was more interested in “pretty” rocks.
After comparing the two rocks I decided on the granite piece since the outline appeared most likely to resemble a Dragon. I cleaned it up, brought into my workspace and started working on the eye. Initially I began with the underside of the rock, but after creating the first “eye” design I felt it looked more like a sad cow than a Dragon, so I decided to take a fresh look at it the next morning. Still not satisfied with this direction I turned the rock around-there it was! The Dragon was already present in the rock-I just didn’t see until this moment.
The Agate “eye” was purchased in August 2018, with no specific intention for a project, but knowing I needed it. The first eyelid skins were made from black cowhide leather. I changed them to brown Buffalo hide after wanting something with a little more density and texture. Rachel had shipped me some very nice gold Tiger Eye nuggets, most of these were used to define the mouth and outer eyelids. The large Amethyst nostril was also one of Rachel’s stones.
It took about a month to find the right semi-precious chip supplier and decide on which stones I was going to work with. I really wanted to use the Nephrite Jade or Chrysocolla for scales since I loved the colors and shapes, but the blue Tiger Eye chips ultimately felt right.
I tested black Kyanite fans, blue Calcite, rough Emeralds and green Kyanite for the throat, before choosing the colorful Chalcopyrite. I also chose the black Kyanite fans for the horns after experimenting with some Smokey Quartz points to see how they would look. The Selenite blaze was another inspiration, I happened to see it on my supplier’s site while deciding on other stone alternatives.
Most of the month of January was spent waiting for more stones shipments and filling in the MANY layers of blue Tiger Eye chips. Some sections are 5-6 layers deep! Every chip was tediously hand-sorted and selected for appropriate sizing and placement. This required quite a few stone orders to allow for adequate inventories to choose from.
I think it’s important to express here-at no time during this creative process did I know how this Dragon would ultimately look, or how she was going to evolve. Every step of the way I was led purely by intuition, with assistance from our divine source.
It was towards the end of February I felt the rock was a “She”, and it was shortly thereafter I received her name; “Princess of Delphi from Orion”.
The Amethyst eyelashes were an inspiration from some samples I received, and since I had already removed the gold Tiger Eye nuggets for repositioning I tested the Amethyst instead-very fitting for a Princess.
By the end of March I was finally ready for the crown. Another synchronistic event provided the larger blue Tiger Eye nuggets-some of which were accidently sent instead of the smaller chips. All that was left now, other than the tiny detail fillers, was to blend the crown in with the rest of the Dragon’s head.
The Princess was delivered to Rachel on April 2, 2019. I worked up until the time of delivery, and probably could have worked several more months on her. She was amazing to spend time with. The official start date was November 30, 2018.
*The time line pictures were taken periodically to provide me with a perspective of my work in-progress, as they say “please excuse my mess”. I did not anticipate making her publicly available.
I am eternally grateful to Rachel for her invitation and trust, Rachel my amazing supplier, Jimmy for gifting the special rocks, and spirit for my gifts.

Oh, and what happened to the other rock next to the Dragon in the yard? I took a better look at it when I returned home from delivering the Princess, if you are curious check out my Future Rock Transformation page-see Gorilla.
